I'm pleased to report my best finish in of the year on the PGA Tour. I finished T5th in the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro. This good result was much needed as we now start the playoffs for the Fedex cup which starts this week in New Jersey. I improved my position from 103 to 91 and as the fields get smaller over the next few weeks it's important I keep playing well to advance.

The week at Sedgefield country club has to go down as my finest ball striking week ever. Yes ever! I hit 66 out of 72 greens and was 1st in greens in reg and I was 2nd in driving accuracy. So it was pretty easy to score well. I've put in a lot of time on the long game to get it to this point so it is probably time to shift the emphasis to the short game now. If I can get all aspects going at the same a win will be just around the corner!

I really, for the first time all year, feel that my confidence is coming back and that makes golf a lot easier!

It would be a good time to get on a run as Fedex points are quintupled (x5) so I can really make up for a slow season to this point.

After my first two week break of the year I was excited to get back to work at the bridgestone invitational. Having played well at the open championship I was feeling confident about having a good week especially as my practice went well early in the week. That is why my my first round 75 was a bit of a mystery! My previous 8 rounds had been nice and solid with great ball striking and out of the blue I started to hit some sketchey shots on Thursday! I actually putted quite nicely to contain some of the damage. The good thing about a bad 1st round at a World Golf Championship is you have a guaranteed 4 rounds to play... I knew with the USPGA the following week it was time to dig in and get something going for next week. And that I did. I shot 68, 69 and 69 to finish in a tie for 29th. 3 rounds in the 60's is always pretty good at firestone and provides a little more evidence that my game is in pretty good shape.

I'm looking forward to returning to Hazeltine for the final major of the year. I played the USPGA there in 2002 which was my first event as a pro in America. It was also the last event in which my Dad would see me play so mixed feelings and memories.

You know you're starting to get older when you start returning to venues where you've played these championships in the past! No longer a youngster.... Maybe time to move up to major champion status! Sounds good to me!
