14th November 2011
After 3 weeks travelling in Europe and Asia I'm waiting to board a flight to Orlando to see the family for a week before turning around and heading pretty much back where I came from to China for the World Cup where me and good mate Ian Poulter will fly the flag for England.
This whole trip has been about fulfilling my commitment to the European Tour and playing my 13 events needed to be a member which ultimately gives me the opportunity to play in the Ryder Cup.
It has been a fun few weeks. I like getting to travel and play around the world and also catch up with the guys on the European Tour. First stop was the Andalucia Masters at Valderrama where I enjoyed returning to the scene of my order of merit win. I played nicely, putted poorly to finish 28th. We then caught a private plane to Paris to connect with the late night flight to Shanghai for the HSBC Champions. This was the first time I'd made it to this event and thought it was fantastic. It is a really good golf course that unfortunately got soft through a lot of rain. Again I played well, especially on Sunday and shot -14 to finish 7th. From there, me and Fooch had a couple beers in Shanghai city after the event as I wanted to see this booming vibrant city as I had travelled all the way out to China. It is too easy to head from tournament to tournament without seeing the sights.
The final stop was Singapore where again rain softened up a great golf course which the way I'm hitting the ball I felt was a disadvantage as it tends to become a putting competition. Again I played well, and also putted nicely after paying some attention to my alignment. I finished at -10 after the tournament was cut to 3 rounds. I feel sorry for Barclays who are a great sponsor of golf and all 3 of their events for cut to 54 holes! Hopefully they'll have more luck next year!
I'm really excited about my game right now and feel like any week I'm capable of running through the finish line 1st.
Hopefully that'll be with Ian at the World Cup.
But more importantly, can't wait to get home and see the family! This last leg of the journey can't go fast enough!!
Justin
