10TH AUGUST 2011
After 2 weeks off and a month in the UK it was great to get back to action. It's always fun to play Firestone as it offers a true reflection of the exact state of your game. If you play well, it can offer a low score as we saw with Adam Scott shooting 62 in round 1. But, if you're a little off, it doesn't let you fake it! It's a pretty penal course. My scores pretty much reflected the way I played.
71- I played pretty scrappy stuff. I hit some good putts but didn't make anything of significant length.
70- played a little better but struggled with my neck. I had to call out my trainer to work on me out on the course....
72- still troubled by the neck. Hit it poorly because of that. Short game was pretty sharp and I hoped out well from short range.
67- felt much better, drove the ball well, hit lots of greens. A birdie start had me thinking of going low and I had the chance.... Hit many good putts that grazed the edge. Gave me good feelings to take into the last major of the year....
Thanks guys....
Justin
